About Sonnaz

Sonnaz is a UK-based creative entrepreneur and upholsterer. She developed her eye for detail and precision craftsmanship standards when she started her upholstery career with an apprenticeship at 17 years old.

At the age of 25 started her own reupholstery business, which has now grown to offer a full range of interior services to individuals, businesses and organisations, from loving restorations of single pieces of furniture to full interior design projects.

With the launch of ‘House of Sonnaz’ in 2025, Sonnaz is expanding her portfolio of services to include a range of ready-to-buy soft furnishings, homewares and luxury furniture.

Her goal is to set a new standard of sustainable, ethical manufacturing in the UK.

In the media

Sonnaz first gained media recognition as the resident upholstery expert on BBC’s The Repair Shop. Appearing in the show from series two onwards, her feature episodes have seen her breathe new life into items of historic relevance including the iconic Mastermind chair.

In addition to championing environmentally and sustainable manufacturing practices, Sonnaz is a vocal advocate of apprenticeships and supporting the next generation of craftspeople. In recent years, she has regularly given talks for audiences of business leaders, students and entrepreneurs at events ceremonies around the country, including sponsoring and presenting awards for promising apprentices and aspiring craftspeople.

Sonnaz has appeared as a guest on a range of TV, radio and online programmes, including BBC Radio 4’s ‘The Bottom Line’, and careers podcast ‘How I Became’.

Alongside regular features and contributions in a range of mainstream and interiors-focused publications, she has also featured in ‘Life in the Barn: The Inside Stories from the Experts’ and published her own book, ‘Upholstery School:Practical projects for updating furniture and furnishings in your home’.
